About PKB Civils
PKB Civils is a specialist civil engineering contractor delivering heavy-duty concrete yards, hardstandings, and external civils works for commercial and industrial sites across the UK. Our clients include logistics operations, warehousing facilities, ports, recycling centres, and manufacturing plants.

The Role
We are recruiting experienced groundworks operatives and site foremen for projects nationwide. This is a hands-on role. You will be expected to lead by example and get involved in all aspects of the works, not just operate machinery.
If you are an excavator operative, you will be expected to get out of the machine and work on the ground when required. We are not a company where you can sit in the cab all day.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven ability across a range of tasks (see skill areas below)
- Able to work independently and manage a small gang when required
- Comfortable working away from home for periods when required
- Valid CSCS card
- Willing to step out of the machine and work on the ground when needed
Key skill areas
- Concrete slab breakout, subbase preparation, pouring and finishing
- Shuttering, formwork, and steel fixing
- Rotating laser level, setting and checking levels
- Excavator, dumper, and roller operation
- Drainage works, shallow and deep (over 2m)
- Ducting installation
- Finishing works: kerbing, edgings, and flagging
- Tarmac works
- CAT scan operation around live services
Rates of Pay
CIS Day Rates

PAYE Annual Salary

New starters are typically brought on over a 12-week CIS period before moving to PAYE if preferred.

- Competitive salary based on experience and role
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- 1 additional day’s holiday per year worked, capped at 3 years
- 1 additional day’s holiday for every 50 nights worked away
- Transport provided to and from site from Rochdale
- Potential for company van and fuel card
- All workwear, tools, and PPE provided
Working Away: CIS and PAYE
- 1 hour’s additional pay per night away
- Any hours worked after 4:30pm paid at time + ¼
- Premier Inn double room provided
- £25 evening meal allowance
- Hotel breakfast included
