PKB Civils was founded in 1982 by Peter Brearley. After starting out in general groundworks, we quickly found our niche in external service yards and hardstandings for industrial and commercial sites. That’s where we’ve stayed ever since.

We understand what a heavy-duty service yard actually goes through. Constant HGV movements, tight turning circles, loading and unloading around the clock. General contractors can pour concrete. Not many understand the loadings, the joint design, the drainage requirements, and the operational pressures that come with a working industrial yard. We do.

Today we deliver yard construction, yard repairs, drainage and external groundworks for some of the UK’s busiest operational sites. Logistics depots, manufacturing plants, ports, recycling facilities and builders merchants. Projects in excess of £1 million, delivered in-house, on live sites, with minimal disruption to the people working on them.

In 2022 we rebranded to PKB Civils, marking 40 years in the business and a clear focus on what we’ve always done best. Paul Brearley joined his father in 2010 and today leads the company alongside Director Ben Duffy, bringing decades of hands-on experience in the environments our clients operate in every day.
