Modular Groundworks in St Helens

PKB Civils delivered all modular building groundworks for a primary school in St Helens that needed to expand its classroom space quickly to keep pace with growing enrolment. Working in partnership with Portakabin, PKB was brought in to prepare the site for rapid installation, with the priority being a safe, stable foundation ready to receive the modular units without delay and without disrupting the school’s day to day operation.

The groundworks scope covered foundation pad installation to receive the modular structure, drainage connections, electrical trenching and all associated services across the site. Access ramps were installed to ensure the building was accessible and compliant from handover. Every element of the modular building groundworks was sequenced carefully around the Portakabin installation programme and the school calendar, ensuring the site was fully prepared when the crane arrived and that pupils, staff and visitors were kept safe and well clear of the works at all times.

The modular building groundworks were completed on programme, handing Portakabin a fully prepared site to install the new classroom units. The school gained the additional space it needed quickly, with minimal disruption to teaching and no impact on the day to day running of the site throughout the works.
