Yard Concrete Repairs and Drainage Upgrades in Glasgow

PKB Civils delivered a full recycling yard concrete repair and drainage upgrade programme across a large operational site in Glasgow. The yard had deteriorated significantly across multiple areas, with failing concrete surfaces and drainage infrastructure causing both operational and health and safety concerns for site workers. A structured 12-week programme was put in place to address the full scope without shutting the facility down.

The works covered concrete repairs throughout the yard, drainage upgrades including gully and channel repairs and replacements, and the installation of 2,400m² of new concrete across the site. To manage safety on a live recycling facility, PKB sectioned off each work area before any works began. This kept plant, vehicles and workers well clear of active construction zones throughout the programme, while ensuring recycling operations continued without interruption at all times.

The completed recycling yard concrete repair programme delivered a significant improvement to usable surface area across the site. Resolved drainage failures reduced standing water and the associated slip and contamination risks. The works also delivered a direct improvement to worker health and safety conditions, with compliant, well-surfaced yard areas replacing the deteriorated concrete that had been flagged as a site risk.
